Beauty, Thy Name is Nokia; Here’s the Lumia XXX Phone Concept!

Nokia Lumia has supposedly moved into the thousands already, with the rumored Lumia 1020 model, but we go back to 3 figures for the beauty pictured below. Created by Deviantart member fefe9901, this device is an edge to edge smartphone with an interesting design.
Beauty, Thy Name is Nokia; Heres the Lumia XXX Phone Concept!
Nokia Lumia XXX has an edge to edge display, a bunch of sensors on the upper side and what seems to be a very discrete camera at the back. This is a Windows Phone 9 model, if you allow me to dream and it comes with 4G connectivity and possibly an octa core processor. All of these are my own speculations, since the designer didn’t mention any specs.
There will be a day when Nokia moves to such specs, if they will keep making Lumias. We may see such a device at the end of 2014, with a kickass back camera, but also a smaller camera module to deliver the Pureview performance. The Lumia XXX is a superb design that deserves a lot of credit.

Micromax Canvas Crystal Sounds Like a Potential Canvas 5

The Micromax Canvas 4 started being offered on preorder today and now we’re thinking about the Canvas 5 already. Well, designer Suman Chatterjee has something in mind and that something is called the Micromax Canvas Crystal concept.
Micromax Canvas Crystal Sounds Like a Potential Canvas 5
We’re dealing with a 5.2 inch Full HD smartphone, so we’re more in phablet turf than handset. This phone packs a 1.7 GHz octa core processor and the PowerVR Series 5XT graphics. There’s also 2 GB of RAM on board, 16/32 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. Micromax Canvas Crystal features dual SIM slots, 3G connectivity, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and USB 2.0.
At its back we find a 13 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and upfront we’ve got a 3.2 megapixel shooter. Other specs include a 3000 mAh battery and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is the OS. The camera comes with autofocus, face and smile detection and image stabilization. The interesting bit about this supposed Canvas 5 is that instead of using metal it relies on “super strong crystal linings”, that measure 3 mm and protect it from rough contacts. The screen is also protected by crystal and the body of the phone is dust proof and water proof.
This design feels like an evolved Lumia of sorts and it’s well done.

Nokia Lumia 1080 is the Phone on Your Wrist, runs Windows Phone Blue

It appears that bracelet phones are popular lately, for some reason… One of them is the new Nokia Lumia 1080, pictured below and made by 91 Mobiles. We’re dealing with a watch-like device that features a 5 inch plastic OLED display.
Nokia Lumia 1080 is the Phone on Your Wrist, runs Windows Phone Blue
Nokia Lumia 1080 supports a Full HD resolution and relies on a quad core processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. There’s also 2 GB of RAM, a 13 megapixel Pureview camera with OIS and Xenon flash and a 3.2 megapixel front camera. Inside there’s a 2500 mAh battery and the OS here is Windows Phone 8.1 Blue.
The device is reasonably thick and seems to be based on metal and glass, judging by these renders. I’m not sure if this Nokia concept can bend or not, but it’s very likely. The lower part reminds me of the older Nokia models and I can see that the display extends over the curvature of the phone, which is interesting.

Sony Xperia ZX is a 6 Inch Triluminous Smartphone

Since Sony may have taken things too far with the Xperia Z Ultra, with its huge 6.44 inch display. Is this a phone? Is this a tablet? It’s not even a phablet! Well, we have a Z Ultra Mini, if I can call it that way, the Sony Xperia ZX, a concept sent to us by uva7 dance.
Sony Xperia ZX is a 6 Inch Triluminous Smartphone
We’re dealing here with a 6 inch smartphone with a Full HD resolution and TFT IPS Triluminous panel. Inside the device we find a Snapdragon 800 2.5 GHz processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. There’s also the option of adding an extra 128 GB via microSD and at the back we find a 2 x 20 megapixel camera with 2160p video and 30 fps, plus optical stabilization.
There’s stereo sound, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie as the OS and a fingerprint scanner in the mix. Powering up this giant is a 4000 mAh battery and we’ve even got a stylus covered. The thickness is 6 mm for this model. Fancy such a huge Xperia concept?

Xenon Ubuntu Phone Features 3D 16 Megapixel Camera and 3D Display

The teaser you saw here is finally cleared and turns into the following concept Ubuntu phone created by Liam Quinn. The handset is called Xenon and it comes with a 3D display, 3D cameras and obviously Ubuntu Touch as the operating system.
Xenon Ubuntu Phone Features 3D 16 Megapixel Camera and 3D Display
We get a model that adopts a design that involves a lot of straight angles, a dual camera at the back, a camera button and a sort of kickstand at the back. The Xenon has a wireless charging dock, that magnetically orients the phone. It adopts the same design language and can be swapped for a different color.Ubuntu mobile OS uses all four cores of the processor on board of the device and its UI has real 3D depth, thanks to special effects and transitions.
The Xenon concept phone has interchangeable back plates of various colors and if you want to talk specs, know that it features a 5.2 inch 3D display, dual 16 megapixel 3D cameras with Carl Zeiss optics and 3D capability. There’s also dual LED flood flash and inside we can find the Tegra 4 processor and 3 GB of RAM. This model also supports 4G LTE.

Nokia EOS to be Named Lumia 1020, 41 Megapixel Camera Confirmed

Everyone is excited about the next step in cameraphone evolution, that will be the Nokia EOS. Apparently, this model will be known commercially as the Nokia Lumia 1020, as the famous leakster @evleaks let slip today.
Nokia EOS to be Named Lumia 1020, 41 Megapixel Camera Confirmed
Meanwhile, Nokia sent out invites to its July 11th launch event, mentioning that there are 41 million reasons to tune in. This is a very clear hint regarding the 41 megapixel camera that will be incorporated into this Lumia unit. The handset is said to have phablet dimensions, use a metal case and it’s expected to be less than 10 mm in bulk.
Nobody is talking specs here, but the camera is a sure thing: 41 megapixel Pureview cam with Carl Zeiss optics, OIS and really cool low light performance. Not sure if the Nokia Lumia 1020 will see Windows Phone moving to quad core and to 2 GB of RAM, but it could be possible. What do you think this model misses, design-wise?

Liam Quinn Teases New Smartphone Design; Involves Aluminum Chassis and More!

Concept Phones, our website is a project that dates back from 2008 and in its early days designer Liam Quinn sent us some of his works. Now he’s back with a more mature approach and an increased desire to design. He proposes a brand new approach to smartphones and teases you with a new piece of work…
Liam Quinn Teases New Smartphone Design; Involves Aluminum Chassis and More!
The motto here is “Some phones are smart…. Some are pure genius… “. The device is supposed to be a surprise and the camera is an “exciting feature”. We’re dealing with a smartphone that measures 5 inches in diagonal and offers a density of 524 PPI. The handset measures a crazy 4.6 mm in thickness and it comes with an aluminum chassis, that can be interchanged with other color versions.
There will be a full set of images from Liam soon, so keep an eye out for that. I can also say that the new model looks futuristic, something out of Cybertron maybe and it packs a powerful dual camera, a new Nvidia Tegra CPU and a bucketload of RAM. The OS is also unexpected!

HTC One Windows Phone Edition Gets Rendered

Bob Freking has imagined the way that a possible HTC One Windows Phone edition may look like and it may resemble the design shown in the image below. This model is supposed to be the successor of the HTC 8X model and it will keep pretty much 99% of the design of HTC One.
HTC One Windows Phone Edition Gets Rendered
Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update will run on this phone and it comes with support for 1080p screens and a quad core CPU. The screen is still the same 4.7 inch Super LCD 3 unit and at the back we’ve got a 4 megapixel Ultrapixel camera and upfront there’s a wide angle front cam. Beats Audio and BoomSound is also here and inside the HTC One Windows Phone is a Snapdragon 600 CPU.
There’s also a rumor about a HTC One Mini unit, but we don’t have too much info about that. I like the design of the HTC One smartphone and I also appreciated the HTC 8X. Do we need a change or the same design yet again?

Samsung Galaxy S4 Ultra Doesn’t Come as a Surprise Nowadays

Samsung Galaxy S4 has become a series and it may even become a larger series if we get a Galaxy S4 Plus/Galaxy S4 Ultra model as rumored. Luckily Bob Freking was ready to create such a device and imagined it as the concept below.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Ultra Doesnt Come as a Surprise Nowadays
This model brings together the features of the Galaxy S4 Zoom, S4 Mini, S4 Active and the leaks regarding a Snapdragon 800 S4 version. All of them together create the Samsung Galaxy S4 Ultra, that packs a 5 inch Super AMOLED 1080p display, a Snapdragon 800 processor, LTE connectivity and Adreno 330 graphics, as well as 2 GB of RAM.
I’m guessing we also get the brand new LTE-A standard here and at the back we’ve got that huge 10x optical zoom 16 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and the usual waterproofing and dust proofing from the Active model. Aqua mode shooting is included as well and if it weren’t for the bulk, this would be a must buy, probably at an obscene price.
[Thanks Bob Freking]

iPhone 6 Render is Minimalistic and Soulless Like iOS 7

The Techno Toast imagined an iPhone 6 concept that truly fits iOS 7. As you know, the latest iOS is basically an Andy Warhol nigthmare mixed with raw minimalism. So, why not have a phone that fits this approach?
iPhone 6 Render is Minimalistic and Soulless Like iOS 7
The iPhone 6 render you see here also has some specs associated, including a 4.8 inch rounded Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection and a quad core Apple A8 CPU clocked at 1.9 GHz. There’s also a glass front and back on this model, a microSD card slot (big LOL) and anodized aluminum sides.
Inside we find 3 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 3000 mAh battery, 128 GB of storage and at the back rests a 12 megapixel camera. This feels like a ghost of an iPhone, if you ask me and it’s very, very minimalistic. Do you like that or do you want more… styling?

The Hook Bracelet Phone Concept Runs Windows Phone in a New Format

Windows Phone is the kind of OS that pretty much explains the hardware platform it’s on: handsets. It can however pop up on the occasional bracelet or watch concept, like the one shown here. Created by Mindaugas (Gus) Petrikas, The Hook is a bracelet phone with Windows Phone 8 on board.
The Hook Bracelet Phone Concept Runs Windows Phone in a New Format
This is basically a smartphone that can twist and bend around your wrist and be worn that way. It has a curved shaped and it kind of reminds me of the Microsoft arc mouse. The screen seems pretty crisp and it has a very small bezel. The belt bundled with the phone is pretty fashionable and sturdy and I totally dig that cool Home button.
The device comes in a few colors and it’s incredibly thin, for a unit that should house a CPU, storage, RAM and possibly a camera. Would you see this device on your hand? As Windows Phone evolves, it’s expected to branch out, with formats like these included.

Icon One Smartphone Concept is Metallic, Edge to Edge, Revolutionary

There hasn’t been a company yet to pioneer a REAL edge to edge display on smartphones, although Motorola has tried that with a few of its models. Now LG Optimus G2 is said to go that way, but till then designer Jsus sent us his latest work: the Icon One smartphone.
Icon One Smartphone Concept is Metallic, Edge to Edge, Revolutionary
This design goes the edge to edge display way and also adopts a thin metallic chassis. This fancy model reminds me of those Bang & Olufsen concept handsets or maybe a fashion phone of sorts. As you can see, we’ve got upper side and lower side speakers, a front camera that’s very discretely integrated and a clear delimitation of the upper and lower edges from the rest of the handset’s body.
For some reason, the phone feels very light to me, but it may just be an impression. Since Jsus usually creates Sony concepts, I have to say I would see this as a futuristic Xperia smartphone, one packing a 5 inch 1600p display, 8 core CPU and 26 megapixel camera. Is this the future?

Samsung Galaxy Watch is a Device I’d Actually See Happening

There’s no doubt that Samsung is making TOO MANY devices for its own good. They make everything, from fridges to air conditioning systems, midrange phones, tablets, PCs, components, CPUs and smartphones. How about a watch? Mohammad Mahdi Azimi has an idea about that.
Samsung Galaxy Watch is a Device Id Actually See Happening
What you see here is the Samsung Galaxy Watch concept, a beautiful design that seems to keep some industrial design elements from the Galaxy S4. The watch isn’t exactly rounded, since it has a lot of straight edges, but it does feel curved at the top and bottom. The screen is very crisp, so I imagine it’s a HD display with the diagonal around 3.5 inches, let’s say.
The designer didn’t send us any specs, so we’re speculating on Samsung’s watch. This gadget should also come with 1 GB of RAM, a dual core Exynos CPU should be enough, plus the likes of S Health, S Translate and some other specific Samsung apps. There’s no trace of camera here and I imagine this serves as more of a companion to phones than standalone Samsung watch.

iPhone 6 Concept Tailor Made for iOS 7 by ADR Studio

This is the very first iPhone concept that involves the real iOS 7, after a bunch of speculations and renders. We’re dealing here with an iPhone 6 created byADR Studio, who are responsible for a few other fantastic concepts of Apple devices.
iPhone 6 Concept Tailor Made for iOS 7 by ADR Studio
As you can see instead of the Home button we now have the Apple logo and the screen of the handset is an edge to edge display. Volume buttons are also more minimalistic and frankly I don’t quite like them. This iPhone 6 involves an edge to edge aluminum shell, a brand new 4.3 inch Retina 2 display and obviously iOS 7 with all its perks and… lacks.
iPhone 6 Concept Tailor Made for iOS 7 by ADR Studio
It appears that at the bottom of the phone, in the Apple logo area you will get a sort of touchpad, with gestures and “total control”, according to ADR Studio. The camera is now an 18 megapixel unit with a double power LED flash and noise reduction, plus stabilizer. The cute Apple logo at the bottom actually integrates a very discrete camera for fingerprint authentication.
And finally, we get the Apple A7 processor, a quad core CPU that will make the iPhone 6 powerful and revolutionary. Big thumbs up!

Android 5.0 Design Concept by Jinesh Shah Part 2: Multitasking and Dialer

If you liked the Android 5.0 interface concept that Jinesh Shah created, we have more shots for you. He rendered his vision of the way that the dialer and multitasking may look on Key Lime Pie.
Android 5.0 Design Concept by Jinesh Shah Part 2: Multitasking and Dialer
Multitasking is fist, with the option to peak at the currently open app, but also the option to swipe it away. There’s a card style app layout and the whole thing with the peaking reminds me of BlackBerry 10 OS. Then comes the Android 5.0 People and Dialer, with a card style dialer and the option to use the voice dial and search to call people directly.
Android 5.0 Design Concept by Jinesh Shah Part 2: Multitasking and Dialer
The contacts are now card-based and the most frequently used contact method is shown below the name of each entry. There’s also a dynamic group view and you can organize contacts by group in cards. Finally, there’s the photo gallery from Key Lime Pie, that’s truly changed this time. We can swipe to the camera and check out the highlights for each album and click to access the full album. Even the pics are organized in the same card style that Jinesh Shah seems to like so much.
What do you think?

Nokia Lumia Z is a 5 inch Smartphone with Windows Phone 8.1

Although Nokia seems more focused on naming its devices with Lumia and then some numbers, who says that they won’t change this pattern once the Lumias start selling less well? Well, we have a fresh concept based on that idea, one that’s dubbed Nokia Lumia Z and it was designed by Rixxan Z.
Nokia Lumia Z is a 5 inch Smartphone with Windows Phone 8.1
This phone packs a 5 inch display and comes with 16, 32 or 64 GB of storage, a front 3 megapixel camera and a rear 12 megapixel shooter, although the image here has them the wrong way, obviously. Inside the handset there’s a quad core CPU and other specs include a non removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, as well as Windows Phone 8.1 as the OS.
The device’s design is all squared up and it looks basically like a thinner brick, which is not exactly my cup of tea. I’d see this model as a Lumia 6xx series or maybe 7xx. Also, I think that the battery inside is a bit big by today’s Windows Phone standards.
