HTC Nexus One 2013 is a Return to the Roots of the Nexus Series

It’s been a while since the prolific Bob Freking designed something for us, but luckily he’s back, with a very interesting concept: the HTC Nexus One 2013. Those of you who remember Android history, may know that the first Google Nexus phone was the HTC One and now we’ve got another… One.
HTC Nexus One 2013 is a Return to the Roots of the Nexus Series
HTC Nexus One features a 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 600 processor, a Full HD Super LCD 3 screen and an 8 megapixel Ultrapixel camera. It also adopts an all aluminum unibody case and runs Android Key Lime Pie. Bob also informed us that according to Wall Street Journal Google is feeling threatened by Samsung, that has become way too attached to Android and they have a huge market share, so they won’t leave the next Nexus phone to them.
It could go to either Motorola or HTC, but if you ask me Sony is also in the books. As you can see, this device borrows a bit from the HTC One, a bit from the One X and a bit from the LG Nexus 4. I like the rounded form factor, a bit more rounded than the HTC One and I imagine that the back has a soft touch material. Is a Nexus 2013 phone made by HTC possible?
[Thanks Bob Freking]

Sony Xperia Sai is a Bright and Thin Handset

David Quijada aka ibolzurikato from Deviantart created a new Sony Xperia concept phone, one that uses interesting lighting around the edges and looks very slim, also slightly curved. There’s a certain sci-fi look to this model, that we’ll analyze in the following lines.
Sony Xperia Sai is a Bright and Thin Handset
First of all we’re dealing with an Xperia, so it’s an Android concept phone, as proved by the icons on the screen and by the 3 capacitive buttons below the display. There’s a beautiful side lighting mechanism on the device and a gentle curve at the back. I also seem to have a spotted the camera and flash integration in the back area, both very discrete.
The device is elongated and curved, meaning it may sit well in the user’s hand, but I’m not sure it won’t wobble on a flat surface. I can imagine that the Sony Xperia Sai is made of metal or some new and resilient plastic material, while the front is all glass and the button part certainly looks like glass being transparent and all. What do you make of this Xperia render?

Nokia Lumia Watch, a Necessary Device Created by Mohammad Mahmi Azimi

Since even Apple is rumored to be preparing an iWatch and Samsung is apparently up to something like that as well, Nokia may also jump on the bandwagon and come up with a Lumia Watch. Till then we have a concept of such a watch from Mohammad Mahdi Azimi.
Nokia Lumia Watch, a Necessary Device Created by Mohammad Mahmi
Azimi
The device minimizes the design of the typical Lumia and it’s the basic square wrist accessory with touchscreen included. The Nokia Lumia Watch packs a pressure indicator, compass, altimeter, GPS, calorie meter, 4G LTE and a waterproof case. There’s also the ability to sync the device with Lumia series handsets.  From what I see this watch runs some version of Windows Phone, too.
The watch seems to have a front camera and it comes in the bright colors of the Lumia series. It’s not very clear what the belt of the concept watch looks like, but I suppose that it’s either metal or leather, or maybe a human-friendly plastic that doesn’t harm you. It sounds like a good idea and I seem to have spotted a microSD card slot on it or maybe a SIM card slot?

Google XPhone Concept Design Created by Jason Chen (Video)

People are really excited about Motorola’s upcoming Google XPhone, so they started to imagine how it would look like. Among them there’s the designer Jason Chen who not only created a concept video of the device, but also a bunch of renders for the Google XPhone.
Google XPhone Concept Design Created by Jason Chen (Video)
We’re dealing with the upcoming superphone from Google and Motorola, a sort of Nexus device without the Nexus branding, from what we’ve heard. The handset comes with a 7.6 mm thick chassis, still thicker than the Motorola Droid RAZR and it weighs 125 grams. It features a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and a quad core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU, plus a 13 megapixel PureView camera with Full HD video.
The specs of this model are pretty unrealistic if you ask me, since Nokia would never lend Moto their camera tech and also the device is kind of the same with the Nexus 4, as far as specs go. Many people disliked the back area of the Nexus 4, so at least that’s changed, being replaced by something that looks like metal. What do you think?

HTC M8 With Windows Phone 8, the Follow-up to HTC One

This week HTC unveiled the HTC One smartphone, previously known as the M7, an Android Jelly Bean handset with high end features and a great design. Now Michael Retovona proposes a new HTC design, the M8 device, pictured below and packing Windows Phone 8.
HTC M8 With Windows Phone 8, the Follow up to HTC One
The designer claims that he likes the Lumia and the iPhone 5 look, so he admits that the HTC One is a bit inspired by those. So, he went out and created the equivalent of the HTC One in the Windows Phone universe: HTC M8. Michael worked one hour and a half on this render in Photoshop alone and using vectors.
There are some changes from the HTC One, like the fact that we have speakers at the lower back, not only at the front top and bottom. Also, below the screen there are Windows Phone buttons and the front camera has been moved from the side to the center. There are 3 capacitive buttons instead of 3 and other than that the handset may keep its 4.7 inch Full HD screen and maybe even the 4 MP Ultrapixel camera. Fancy this phone?

Sony Xperia X Concept by Suman Chatterjee is a Worthy HTC One Rival

Designer Suman Chatterjee created a very interesting concept, the Sony Xperia X, a smartphone that aims to be a rival for the HTC One handset, if we consider its diagonal and features. You should probably know that this Android device has its on/off button placed at the top, the volume control on the right and the front camera has a flash.

Rival
The front cam’s flash is integrated with Smart Flash technology, that enables autofocus and face recognition during video calls and photography. It also enables quality videos and photos during low light. There are dual speakers at the base of this slim handset, that’s also quite elongated. The phone measures 7.1 mm in thickness, weighs 138 grams and packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad core CPU at 1.7 GHz. It runs Android 4.2.2, uses 2 GB of DDR2 RAM and 32/64 GB of storage.
The camera at the back is a 16 megapixel Exmor RS unit with dual flash, while upfront we’ve got a 3.2 MP shooter with Exmor R. Finally, we’ve also got a removable Li-Polymer battery with a capacity of 2700 mAh, plus a GPS and digital compass also on board. NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and DLNA are all here as well. So, what do you think of this design, is it a worthy Xperia Z successor?

Sony Xperia PlayStation Gaming Phablet is Actually More Exciting Than the PS4

Sony has just announced the PlayStation 4, but they didn’t also unveil its hardware specs, price, or even a picture of the device, sadly. In order to get a consolation out of this, we show you a brand new concept of a PlayStation phone, or more accurately a PlayStation phablet done by Simon Drake.
Sony Xperia PlayStation Gaming Phablet is Actually More Exciting
Than the PS4
The device is called the Sony Xperia PS and it packs a Full HD 6 inch display, 2 GB of RAM and a 1.5 GHz quad core processor, as well as an Adreno 320 GPU. You can map the power button and camera button into the left and right button apparently and there are two illumination bars on board like on the Xperia S. The Sony Xperia PS packs a 13 megapixel camera with rounded LED flash and a 3 MP front camera, plsu a removable back cover and a very pretty design, with tiny bezels.
The CPU inside is a Snapdragon S4 quad core at 1.7 GHz and other specs include 32 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and Bluetooth 4.0. There’s also NFC, a removable 3000 mAh battery and the camera uses Exmor RS sensor, HDR and Full HD video recording. Frankly speaking, I can’t say I’m really excited by the PS4, but I’m quite happy with the idea of a PlayStation phablet. How about you?

Nokia Lumia EOS Pureview Phone Runs Windows Phone Blue

After the yesterday Nokia concept today we have a new one, designed by Karl Panase and called Lumia EOS Pureview. The handset runs Windows Phone 8 Blue, the new release that is expected to come in a few months. The device features a pretty familiar design, not so far from Lumia 920, but much thinner and with a camera area that’s much like the Pureview 808.
Nokia Lumia EOS Pureview Phone Runs Windows Phone Blue
Nokia Lumia EOS features a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, most likely a quad core one, especially since the Adreno 320 GPU is also mentioned. We’ve also got a special Nokia imaging chipset, 32 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM and a card slot. At the back there’s a 41 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, a high power Xenon flash and a 1/1.2″ sensor size. There’s also an ND filter, 10x lossless digital zoom, geotagging, face detection and improved low light abilities.
The camera does 1080p 30 fps video capture and has lossless digital zoom when filming as well. The Nokia Lumia EOS concept has a secondary 2 MP cam at the front, an IPS LCD touchscreen with a 4.65 inch diagonal and a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution. This is a PureMotion HD+ ClearBlack display and the phone measures 10 mm and weighs 185 grams, just like the Lumia 920, although it looks a bit thinner. Finally we’ve got a non removable Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery on board, but I frankly wish the battery was bigger.

Nokia Lumia 1000 Concept by Mohammad Mahdi Azimi

Various other designers have tried to imagine a Nokia Lumia 1000 concept, but this is a new vision, from Mohammad Mahdi Azimi. It actually resembles a few leaked Nokia Lumia phones that were spotted on the web lately, so it’s a very interesting device. There’s a sketch below of the same device, created by the same designer that fooled a bunch of sites, who actually believed it was taken from a Nokia patent.
Nokia Lumia 1000 Concept by Mohammad Mahdi Azimi
There’s proof of people believing it was the real deal here, but they finally came to their senses. At the time the model was discussed as a 41 megapixel Windows Phone Pureview cameraphone, that was proved to be just a concept in the end. I like the huge rounded speaker at the back, how compact the whole thing is and how old school it feels. The camera integration looks pretty much like on previous Lumias, although 41 MP would be welcome here. I also expect a more potent CPU, maybe something like a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600.
Nokia Lumia 1000 Concept by Mohammad Mahdi Azimi
Nokia Lumia 1000 is shown in the trademark yellow hue, but only darker this time. The front side bears a slight resemblance with the Nokia 808 PureView, while the back has a bit of a hump, I bet and it feels like a cheaper Lumia, to be honest. Are people ready to adopt an old school design that may feel a bit dated, just to get a 41 MP camera on a Windows Phone unit?

[Thanks Mohammad Mahdi Azimi]
