Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is Back, Looks Realistic as Usual

If you’ve been following our website over the past couple of years, you must’ve noticed that we had a couple of Samsung Galaxy concepts and also some Galaxy Note concepts. Well, the Galaxy S4 for example had crazy designs, while the Galaxy Note II had realistic ones. That’s why I also expect the Galaxy Note 3 to get some realistic mockups, like the one below.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is Back, Looks Realistic as Usual
It was sent to us by uva7 dance and it’s a slab of plastic, with metallic edges, a wider format than the Galaxy S4 and a small pen slot at the back bottom. It’s not too far from the Galaxy S4 and it only increases in width. The screen has as small of a bezel as possible and if you look at this model from the profile, it has a certain feeling of iPhone, if you ask me. But what doesn’t nowadays, right?
We also get a bunch of specs for this Samsung Galaxy Note 3 concept, that include a 5.9 inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, an 8 core processor (4 core 2 GHz Cortex A15 + 4 core 1.4 GHz Cortex A7), 3 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of ROM and microSDXC card slot. Android 5.0 is the OS of choice and at the back we’ve got a 16 megapixel camera, although I suppose the real device will have a 13 MP one. The good news is that the camera does 60 FPS 1080p video capture.
Finally, the Note 3  measures 7.9 mm in thickness and has a Li-Ion 3600 mAh battery. Realistic… or not?

Curved iPhone Patent Turns Into a Render

If you follow the recent Apple patents, you’ll run into a very interesting one, that shows a curved iPhone of sorts. Now that patent has been turned into the render you can see below. It was said to actually be a flexible iPhone display, so here it is:
Curved iPhone Patent Turns Into a Render
Nickolay Lamm is the creator of this concept, a mockup of an iPhone with a curved display. Apple’s recent patent refers to a wraparound AMOLED display, that’s certainly futuristic, but it may one day be adopted. As you can see, the handset loses both the Home button and volume buttons and just like Apple said in the patent, the device provides “illusion of depth perception that imitates a 3D experience”.
Frankly speaking, I think this is more of an iPhone 7 material or even further, since even Samsung with its colossal power of innovation stays away from such formats for now. I have to say that this model doesn’t seem flexible and that it’s kind of bulky compared to the patent below.

Nexus 6 X Phone Handset Runs Android 6.0 Milkshake

If you’re tired of the Nexus 5 concepts we’ve shown you over the past month, let’s take it up a notch and reveal a Nexus 6. This device is also dubbed the X Phone and it’s a new hero device supposedly made by Google and Motorola. Looking at its Android version, it sure feels like a model that would be revealed at Google I/O 2014.
Nexus 6 X Phone Handset Runs Android 6.0 Milkshake
Nexus 6 runs Android 6.0 Milkshake, so I suppose after Key Lime Pie we’ll have the “L” release this fall and then Milkshake. This Motorola Google Phone also supports spatial gestures recognition and adopts an edgy back side with the X Envelope signature, that makes it stand out. The designer of the Nexus 6, Introoo claims that the smartphone is made of semi flexible materials and composite and the whole X thing defines a new design direction, just like Nokia and its Fabula direction.

The Google Motorola X Phone pictured here features HDMI out, a 4.6 inch flexible OLED display and it supports 3D printed cases that can be applied on top of it. You can also add 3D printed parts to the phone and make your own unique chassis. This Nexus handset measures 8.5 mm in thickness, supports a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, has a 10 megapixel camera, GPS, NFC, wireless charging, a 2 MP front camera and it uses the usual barometer, compass and gyroscope.
Are you ready for Android 6.0 or still curious about Android 5.0?

iPhone 6 Render by Martin Hajek Uses a Glass TouchPad Instead of Home Button

Martin Hajek is one of the designers who stuns us with visually detailed concept phones, like the BlackBerry one or the iPad Mini one. Today we’re showing you his vision of the iPhone 6, inspired by Steve Hemmerstoffer from Nowhereelse.fr.
iPhone 6 Render by Martin Hajek Uses a Glass TouchPad Instead of
Home Button
The idea here is to design an iPhone of 2014, one with a 5 inch display and one that ditches the physical Home button. And then came the magical idea of implementing a touchpad below the display, like the MacBook trackpad, covered with a glass plate. That mechanism now replaces the Home button with the ability to click on said touchpad. The design seems inspired by the iPad Mini and the current iPod Touch, if you ask me.
iPhone 6 relies on an unibody aluminum anodized black or gray case and it comes with a Retina Display that’s borderless and… clickable in its lower area. I can also feel a bit of the iPhone 3G/3GS generation with the slightly curved shape of the device in the upper side and at the back. I also imagine that the resolution is huge here and we a special Apple A7X or Apple A8 CPU inside.

Micromax Flair: if the Facebook Phone was Made in India…

Last week the web was rocked by the debut of a new Facebook Phone, HTC First. But what about an Indian counterpart, one that designer Suman Chatterjee imagined? I’m talking about the Micromax Flair, a smartphone from India with Facebook Home on board.
Micromax Flair: if the Facebook Phone was Made in India...
The device runs Android 4.2.2 and relies on a 1.4 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, as well as 1 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of storage. There’s also a 4.9 inch display on board with HD resolution and a 2600 mAh battery to power the Facebook Phone. Micromax Flair comes in black, white or garnet red and it packs an impressive 13 megapixel camera at the back, with LED flash and 5x zoom.
It also has a 2 megapixel front camera, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and microUSB. The design is very interesting and for some reason it makes me think of an LG Optimus series device, maybe the LG Optimus 2X. The UI is also a bit rudimentary… Would this model be a success in India?
[Thanks Suman Chatterjee]

Sony Xperia A by Ben Ling is a 4.6 inch Full HD Waterproof Handset

Ben Ling has created a new Sony Xperia concept phone simply dubbed the Xperia A, that you can check out below. We’re dealing with a 4.6 inch Full HD handset with a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Sony Xperia A by Ben Ling is a 4.6 inch Full HD Waterproof Handset
The screen is shatter proof and at the back of this smartphone we find a 13 megapixel camera with HDR and LED flash. There’s also an Exmor RS sensor on board for camera use and this device is both dust and water resistant according to IP55 and IP57 standards. The camera does 16x digital zoom and Full HD video recording, while upfront we have a 2.2 megapixel camera also with HDR, like the cam on HTC One.
The design is slightly rounded and I can see that there’s a camera button on board, something rare for an Android phone. The facade of the Sony Xperia A seems to remind me of the times of the Xperia Play and Xperia Neo, so it may seem a bit dated. Powering up this Xperia 2013 phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU, that we’ve yet to see on a Sony handset. By the way it runs Android 4.2.2 and provides 32 GB of storage, as well as microSD.
The battery is a 2600 mAh unit. Is there room for rounded phones with camera buttons and Android on the market?
[Thanks Ben Ling]

Sony Xperia Ultra is a Sort of Xperia Play 2 Design

Junior Riega sent us a concept (and insisted posting on Facebook about it way too much) for a new Xperia Play device called the Sony Xperia Ultra. We’re dealing here with something I like to call “Sony meets Nintendo”, since I sense there’s a bit of Nintendo DS here, but also a bit of PS Vita.
Sony Xperia Ultra is a Sort of Xperia Play 2 Design
The device packs a Super AMOLED HD display with Gorilla Glass protection, 8 GB of DDR 3 RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. There’s also Qualcomm Snapdragon 5.1 GHz processor inside with 64 cores (ARM Krait 1000 Cortex A57) plus an OS that the designer calls Android 6.0 Key Lime Pie. The display has a diagonal of 5.2 inches and a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, plus it comes with Sony Mobile Bravia 3 technology and Sony White Magic tech as well.
At the back we’ve got a 21 megapixel camera with 24x ultra Zoom, a xenon flash and LED flash. The cam is able to do 4K video capture at 120 FPS and 3D video as well. Junior Riega imagined that the Xperia Ultra concept would have Sony xLOUD technology, Track ID and some PS Vita controls. We’ve got shoulder buttons, what looks like a Walkman button, a camera button, HDMI port, a nano SIM card slot and the classic gaming buttons on a sliding area.
Would such a device catch on?

[Thanks Junior Riega]

Nokia Lumia 930 Render, Created by Victor Cao; Specs Included!

The last time I heard the name of designer Victor Cao, he created an interesting Xperia design or two. Now he’s back with a Nokia concept phone, the Lumia 930, that you can see rendered in the following two shots. As you know, there’s a new Wolverine movie coming and to celebrate that, the designer envision a special edition of the phone tied in with the film.
Nokia Lumia 930 Render, Created by Victor Cao; Specs Included!
Nokia Lumia 930 is said to serve as a follow-up to the Nokia Lumia 920 and it comes with a metal unibody design, 4G LTE connectivity and a 4.8 inch OLED Full HD display with 16:9 aspect and a quad core 1.5 GHz Krait processor, as well as 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 320 GPU. We’ve got a 12 megapixel PureView camera on board, 32/64 GB of storage and NFC.
Powering up this Nokia Lumia concept is a 2500 mAh battery and the whole device is just 8.5 mm thin. The handset runs Windows Phone 9 and overall it seems to keep the Fabula design format of its predecessors.

Here’s What the Galaxy Note 3 May Look Like: No Bezel, Probably Cloned already in China

I’ve received an interesting mail from a tipster, claiming that there’s already a clone of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and he also attached the picture below. The device is supposedly called the HDC S Note 3 and it comes from China.
Heres What the Galaxy Note 3 May Look Like: No Bezel, Probably
Cloned already in China
From what I know, HDC is a company that copies HTC and not Samsung. Anyway, know that this Note 3 render involves a 5.9 inch Full HD display, a 4000 mAh battery, 3 GB of RAM and 128 GB of ROM, as well as a Snapdragon 800 quad core 2.3 GHz processor. Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is the OS of choice and from what I know, the official unveiling of the new Samsung phablet will go down at IFA 2013 in Berlin.
As far as design goes, we’ve got minuscule bezels, a discrete Home button, perhaps even too small and a slot at the back for the S Pen stylus. There’s also a camera that seems to sport what look like LED flash and Xenon flash, unless I’m mistaking. The form factor is rather friendly and I also spotted a camera button in there, which is totally unlikely.
